Procedure to separate

Procedure to separate the contents of the plastic cup.
1- First take the pipette and take the liquid and place it in a graduated cylinder.

2- Secondly hand remove the toothpicks and place it on the tray.

3- Next take the spoon and scoop out the pebble and place it on the tray.

4- Then take the spoon again and scoop out the beans and place it on the tray.

5- After that take the magnet and swipe it around the cup and on the magnet should be iron filings. Place the magnet on the tray.

6- Next fold the coffee filter into four sections. Then fold the four sections into one pizza pie like piece. After that take the filter and separate from the center until it looks like a funnel. Place that in the funnel and pour the water from the cylinder into the funnel. Make sure the beaker is underneath to catch the water.

7- Then take the hot plate and plug it into the socket. After plugged in, put the beaker on the hot plate and wait for the water to boil.

8- When the water boils use the tongs to take the beaker off the hot plate. Unplug the hot plate.

9- At the bottom of the beaker there should be a shinny white substance called salt. Take a spoon and scoop it onto the spoon. In the beaker water should still be there. Sand should be the only thing left in the plastic cup.

Items- Water, salt, pebble, toothpicks, beans, iron filings and sand.
