Chicken wing lab

On thursday on the 20th of October we watched a chicken wing being disected by our teacher because of the threat of salmonila. We found that the chicken wing was very similar to the human arm. We compared organs and the muscle tissues. The first think she did was to take the epitherial tissue off also know as the skin. The skin was yellow and bumpy and was attached to the muscle tissue. After the skin was taken off the fat was exposed. The fat was also very yellow. It was slimy and puffy. This was also attached to the muscle tissue. When the muscle tissue was exposed the muscle was pink and smooth. The muscle can contract and relax to control muscle movements. The muscle attached to the bone and the skin. A ligament is a shiny white covering over the joint that attaches to the muscle. The tendon is a shiny white tissue that attaches muscles to bones. This acts as a pully to help move the arm as it flexis and extends. The cartilage is white and slippery. This helps the bones not to grind together. This is attached to the bone. Inside the bone, there is something called marrow. The marrow produces blood cells. This would be concidered as an organ. The nerve is something that I didn't get to see. The nerve is dark blue and smooth. This sends messages to the brain and also recives messages. The nerve is attaced to the muscle. The muscle that flexes the arm is called the flexor and the muscle that extends the arm is called the extensor. These allow the wing or arm to move around. There are many componets to carry out basic funtions of the wing or arm.
